Another Year Weight Loss Resolution

I can remember when I was a child, my Mother always use to tell me that she was going to start her diet on Monday. Was it because that was the beginning of the week, signalling a new start? This went
on for months until she decided to just do it now, this moment. I love my Mom, and we had alot of laughs thinking back on those many many dreaded Mondays. If you start now, in the moment, with the next piece of food or drink you put in your mouth, we can all get over the mindset of, "I will wait till Monday."

So then, why is it every new year when the clock strikes midnight we think, "Time to start my weight loss resolution for the year?"  Are we not happy with ourselves or the way we look?  Do we want to look good for someone else?  Maybe, "This time I want to be healthier!" What ever your reason for losing weight, I am puzzled why January is the biggest month to start losing weight.  We need to change that mind set and think, "I 'm going to lose weight or get healthier now, this moment!" Take the emotions out of it and do it!

This moment I can:

1. As you look in your refrigerator or cupboard, pick something to eat that isn't white.

2. My favorite...I eat off of smaller colorful plates.  It looks full and appealing to the eye, while eating less calories.

3.  Hungry for something sweet?  Eat a miniature candy bar.

4. Want something salty and crunchy?  Wheat or rye bread sticks, 100 calorie popcorn, or even a mini size bag of chips or pretzels will fill your craving.

5. Another favorite of mine this time of year are clementine oranges.  They are just the right size and very sweet...yum! Eat one before a meal and you won't eat as much.

6. You have heard this before...eat smaller meals 5 to 6 times a day.  It really works to keep your blood sugar more stabilized without that starving sluggish feeling.

7.  Have you tried pumpkin seeds for an afternoon snack?  Another crunch/salty craving satisfied.

8. Beans...add kidney or black beans to your salads.  Or try fat free refried beans with melted cheese on top.  This a very good source of protein and fills you up faster.

9.  Color your world!  Just like we all love the colors, sites and sounds of the world around us, our body loves colors too.  Check out Active Elegance "Free" nutrition assessment to see if you are getting enough colors in your diet.

10.  Concluding my top 10...eat what you want but with a twist!  Get a one cup measuring cup and eat what you want that will "only" fit in the cup.  This only applies to your "main" course of each meal. You can eat all you want of fruits and veggies.

Every little step you  take in the "Moment" will help you lose weight and get healthier.  Also, don't forget to drink water.  Everytime I go to the sink to wash my hands, do dishes etc...I drink a little water.
